WiFi not connecting

When your laptop won’t connect to WiFi, the cause is usually a temporary software glitch, a driver issue, or a router problem — not a hardware fault. Most connections are restored by restarting the laptop, the router, or updating the WiFi driver.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Why does my laptop keep disconnecting from WiFi?
Usually a driver issue or power management setting. Update your WiFi driver and disable WiFi power saving: Device Manager → WiFi adapter → Properties → Power Management → uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
My laptop sees other networks but not mine — why?
Your router may be on a different frequency band (2.4GHz vs 5GHz) or the network name is hidden. Try restarting your router.
Is the WiFi adapter tested on CLS laptops?
Yes. Every port and wireless adapter is individually tested during our 20-point inspection.
Will a network reset delete my files?
No. It only removes network adapters and settings. Your files, programs, and Windows installation are unaffected.
What warranty does my CLS laptop have?
12-month hardware warranty covering WiFi adapters. Full details.
Can I use Ethernet instead?
Yes. Plug an Ethernet cable directly from your router to the laptop. This bypasses WiFi entirely and confirms whether the issue is WiFi-specific or internet-wide.
Does this guide work for Windows 10 and 11?
Yes. All steps work on both.
How do I contact CLS?
Phone 1300 724 968 or visit North Rocks.
