EOFY ready.
EOFY 2026 hub. Refurbished laptops, desktops, and accessories bought before 30 June 2026 can be claimed in this financial year — same tax treatment as new hardware, often at half the price.
Buy before 30 June. Claim this year.
The Australian financial year ends 30 June. Eligible hardware purchases made and ready-to-use before that date can be claimed in this financial year — not next year. Refurbished receives the same deduction as new.
30 June deadline
To count for this financial year, the asset must be purchased and ready for business use before 30 June 2026.
Refurbished = same deduction
The ATO doesn't care whether a laptop is new or refurbished — only that it's used for income-producing work. Same deduction, lower price.
Small business write-off
Eligible small businesses may instantly write off assets under the current threshold. Threshold changes by year — check ATO for FY2025–26 rules.
WFH employees
Working from home? Equipment used predominantly for work may also be partially deductible — rules differ from business write-offs.
